The International Youth Foundation (IYF) team from ELSA visited different project sites in Basilan and Tawi-Tawi, Mindanao last February 6 to 9, 2007. Joining the trip were Mr. Jack Boyson, Chief of Party, and Dr. Zeny Domingo, Deputy Chief of Party, accompanied by representatives from partner organizations. Ms. Christina Macy, IYF's Director of Publications, also came to interview community alliance partners involved in the programs of ELSA to document the process of local alliance building.

The team also went to Mindanao State University - Tawi-Tawi to turn over a check amounting to more than PHP 150,000, as support for the school's Skills Program on Seaweeds Productivity. This would benefit more than 600 students enrolled in this program of MSU-Tawi-Tawi.

During the course of the trip, the team also had a chance to interact with the local media. A press conference was held in Zamboanga and Tawi-tawi to discuss the alliance and its activities with the press. Mr. Boyson and Dr. Domingo guested in a live radio program in Tawi-Tawi to talk about ELSA programs. The two were also interviewed in an hour-long TV program in Zamboanga City, along with Dr. Thomas Kral, USAID Senior Education Advisor, to discuss the EQuALLS project and the ELSA programs.
