ELSA’s Technical Education trainees from the Notre Dame College of Midsayap College, Cotabato underwent a youth civic engagement program on June 4-8, 2007. The 5-day training aimed to train the youth on leadership, community organizing, and project management.
The 58 trainees, divided into groups, were able to identify the root problems and issues they want to address in their communities. They also formulated project plans and presented it to different stakeholders to acquire funding support.
Past projects of previous batches of youth trainees include health and medical missions, literacy and reading programs for small kids.
ELSA’s Integrated Technical Education program, spearheaded by Consuelo Foundation, includes Life Skills Training and Youth Civic Engagement training targeted for out of school youth. The Notre Dame College of Midsayap (NDMC) is one of the implementing partners of ELSA in Cotabato. Currently, more than 100 out of school youth trainees are taking up technical education in NDMC.
